iPad

Some main ideas of the passage is that the workers assembling iPhones, iPads, and other devices often labor in harsh conditions.  Some examples according to the article is that two years ago 137 workers at an Apple supplier in eastern China were injured after they were ordered to poisonous chemical to clean iPhone screens. Also within seven months last year, two explosions at the iPad factories killed four people and 77 injured. Another, example is that Apple's supplier code of conduct says that employees are not suppose to work more than 60 hours, but Foxconn, one of Apple's most important manufacturing partners, employees work more. Mr. Lai, an employer at Foxconn, was soon spending 12 hours a day, six days a week inside the factory, according to his paychecks. My opinion about the article is that some of the harsh conditions that the employers have to endure is not necessarily mandatory, especially if they are not getting paid the enough amount of money that they deserve to have for working the longs hours that they do.
